At GCI, we solve the hard problems. As a Systems Engineer, a typical day will include the following duties:
JOB DESCRIPTION:
The System Engineer will use their in-depth experience and understanding of data management and business process development to assist the Program Manager and Deputy Program Manager in assessing as-is processes and procedures, assist in developing more formal documentation of those policies, processes, procedures, and propose improvements. The ideal candidate will also have the skills to design and implement simple tools and techniques to support and facilitate those improvements. This person should embody a passion for continuous improvement and a love of data-driven design.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical training, or work/military experience
- 10 to 15 years of directly related experience in System Engineering experience
- Understands data management principles and data-driven design
- Outstanding communication skills
- Action oriented, detailed, organized, and independent
- Proficient to expert in Excel
- Proficient in Sharepoint Design, Administration, and workflow design
- Ability to react positively to changing environments and advance progress with minimal direction
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assess program processes and procedures and propose improvements to the PM/DPM
- Document both business and technical processes across the program as needed
- Assist with tracking and maintaining program data
- Plan, design, and implement improvements using tools like Excel or Sharepoint to improve data integrity and efficiency to support better decision making
- Administer and maintain the sponsors Sharepoint Site collection
